Hitachi Projector
Projector
This is a Hitachi over head projector ... Not so much a teardown as an expose....

Projector cover removed
The Hitachi Projector with the case removed, the lamp is in the bottom right corner, covered in a heat shield, and cooled by a fan. The focusing lens (black) in the top left, where light leaves the projector

Projector with no main PCB
Removing the main PCB reveals the lamp cage (bottom right) and associated fan. The fan was very dusty as you might expect.

Prisms visible
Lamp cage removed, note two prisms (centre left) to separate the light into primary colours of Red, Blue and Green, which will be modulated through the tinted glass LCD panels

Combining and bending light
Note the lens in the centre left of the picture, used to re-focus the three modulated beams, point at the mirror to turn the light through 90 degrees to the final lens

Activating the Lightpath
Fascinating to see the light passed through a prism to separate the colours, then passed through liquid crystal display for modulating with video information, then recombined at the lens.
